Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered many other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests show the substance was most likely blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.

A senior official stated the attack left him without words and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the death of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
